The Meaning of the Dead Sea Scrolls for Judaism, Christianity, and the Origins of the Bible

The Dead Sea Scrolls are said to be the greatest archaeological discovery of the 20th century and the most important find related to the Bible of all time. This incredible cache of over 970 ancient religious manuscripts are over 2,000 years old and they reveal otherwise unknown information about the origins of Judaism as we know it today, as well as about the early followers of the Jesus movement, soon to become Christianity. Further, the Scrolls include the oldest copies that we have of the Tanakh/Old Testament and illuminate the early history of the Bible. Join Dr. Schofield as she leads a tour through the related Dead Sea Scrolls and Bible exhibit currently on display at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and offers three evening sessions to explore deeper questions related to the Scrolls, such as : How do these oldest copies of the Bible compare to our Bibles today? How do these texts illuminate the varieties of Judaism before the end of the Second Jewish Temple? What do these texts say (or not say) about the life and times of Jesus?

Answer these and other questions as you prepare for a once-in-a-lifetime instructor-guided tour of the actual Dead Sea Scrolls, here in Denver for only a short time.
